A Short and Illustrated Thought #27

Morning mist wrap fated hands

On this day…like any day,

The hours are set.

Light tethered trees

Burn ardently.… diligently

to meet dewed dreams.

Footfalls fall on padded feet

Time to get up & greet

The hour is set.

Bleary eyed & tumble toed

Warm water soaped

Stubble growed

Yesterday a fictive passing

 A history not worth minding

Dangers known,

Dangers done & danger not

Fated hands

Our hours are set.

To see into your world

thru a lens forthright

A crimson filter

blue and red

phylo green

yellow unseen

etched in grass

spelled in stone

white clapboard spire

shadow cast

in an eternal burn

She drew the sun

in crayon,

Lemon yellow, Sunset orange

Pulled from the sky

It landed on her sheet

Through a darkened eye

Holst celebrated Jupiter

but not for her

“Its’ the sun I want”

Etched on a sheet

Not to spin,

But to smile

This is mine

I will never let it go

This sun through my little eye

Sarah drew the sun.

Why?

Why did I cry?

Did the Meyerhoff know?

Did my rose water neighbor know?

“The Little Drummer Boy”—

he knew.

Not the Bing and David version (brilliant)

My youth, it went,

washed away

with salty tears.

My forty days were up.

Now, just one more voice

in the wilderness.

I cried.

This tribe of three,

this pod,

my family.

One third the Brady Bunch

(don’t forget Alice)

Not for want,

not for not,

this beautiful deal.

Again, my heart,

a broken seal.
